QUESTIONS TO ASK OF THE INTERVIEWER
– What should I ask?
Questions that you ask are indicators of your interest, your research initiative and your listening skills. If you have done your homework prior to the interview, you will already have a great deal of information about the job and the company, so don’t ask questions that you already know the answers to. Instead, focus on some of the particular details of the interviewer and the department he/she works in.
Please see some potential questions below. During the interview, as you receive information from the interviewer, other questions will certainly occur to you.
• Tell me a bit about a typical work week for someone in this position?
• What do you think are the most important qualities or abilities to being successful in this job?
• What do you think is the most rewarding part of this job?
• What do you think is the most challenging part of this job?
• How long have you worked in this department?
• How did you come to be in this role?
• What previous jobs, if any did you have in (XYZ) industry?
What do you feel is the best aspect of working for this department?
