I was watching Animal Planet and they did a documentary on frogs. Frogs have the ability to change their temperature to better adapt to their environment. They make themselves warmer when the environment is cold and vice versa. This is both a gift and a curse…. Why?
Frogs have been known to fall in warm water and instinctively make themselves cooler to adapt to the warm water. But if you were to raise the temperature of the water, the frog would make itself cooler and cooler. Which means, you could get to the point that the water is boiling and Mr. frog will just keep trying to adjust itself to suit the environment while on it’s way to death without even realizing it.
People are the same. We will remain in a situation adjusting, and adjusting, and adjusting rather than either leaving that environment or changing the circumstances around us. It’s foolish to remain in a situation that is unfavorable for you but keep trying to adjust yourself, your ways, your thinking, for the sake of trying to remain in it. Stop!
I thank God for Martin Luther King Jr. This was a man who refused to acquiesce to the climate of the times. There are some many progressive elements in our society that are directly attached to what he believed in, fought for, and wanted to change.
All growth requires change. Look at your financial environment, your relationship environment, your creative environment, your health environment, your spiritual environment. If the environment is favorable, then it’s YOU that needs to change. But if the environment is NOT favorable for you, it needs to change. Don’t get me wrong, you should definitely make changes in yourself from time to time but not to the point that you’re changing but you’re still on the pathway to destruction.
Dr. Martin Luther King is the ultimate model of progressive thought, cultural elevation, character, integrity and strength. His humility and meekness is actually his strongest testament to his strength. Happy Birthday Rev. Rather than fall victim to the foolery that our environment tries to serve is, we thank you for giving us a blueprint on how to make change and become change.
Humbly Yours,
Kel Spencer
